What we do.
Six jobs, one crew. Most houses in Hinsdale, Elmhurst and Western Springs are an asphalt replacement or a repair that keeps the old roof going; the cedar and slate work is for the older streets near the river.

Every replacement gets ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, a ridge vent with matching soffit intake, and Owens Corning Duration or GAF Timberline HDZ shingles. The manufacturer's warranty is registered in your name before we leave, and our own ten-year workmanship warranty is on the last page of the estimate, in writing.
The company. Oak Brook Roof Works has had the same phone number since the first truck in 2012, the same shop off Butterfield Road since 2016, and a crew of nine on payroll, not day labor. The Illinois license number above can be checked on the IDFPR lookup; on this demo page it is a sample number.
The paper. We keep the photo set from your roof walk and the itemized estimate in your file. When you call in year eight about a drip at the chimney, Sam already knows what is up there, what it was installed with, and who installed it.

Sam spent nine years on other people's crews in the western suburbs before buying a used dump trailer and starting Oak Brook Roof Works in 2012. The first jobs were repairs on the ranch houses along Butterfield Road; the first full replacement was a Hinsdale Tudor that still has the roof.
We do not sell a roof when a repair will hold, the estimate is itemized so you can compare it to anyone else's, and the number you hear on the phone is the number on the paper.

- Do you need to get on my roof to give me a price?
- Yes, and only with your permission. Sam asks before the ladder goes up, photographs every slope, and shows you the photos before he leaves. If you would rather nobody went up, he measures from the ground and the photos, and the estimate says so.
- How fast is the written estimate?
- Within three business days of the roof walk, by email, itemized line by line. If you need it sooner for a closing, say so on the call.
- What happens after a storm?
- Call us. If water is coming in, a crew comes out the same day or the next morning to tarp the open spots. We photograph the damage, write up the repair, and give you the photos and the estimate to keep. We do not go on the roof until you say so.
- How long does a replacement take?
- A single-family house with one layer of shingles takes one day with the full crew. Two layers, a steep pitch or a lot of dormers can push it to two. We tell you which before we start, and the roof is never left open overnight.
- What does the license number on this page mean?
- Illinois requires anyone roofing for pay to hold a state roofing contractor license. The Unlimited class covers residential, commercial and industrial roofs.
